Hi!

I'm Phil and I love all things creative. Having started my career as co-owner of a popular YouTube channel. I made my way through events and marketing positions, creating stage shows and working with some of the biggest creators in gaming.
Despite this, my itch for creating was not quite satisfied. So not long after the lockdown started in 2020, I started to learn 3D modelling. I picked it up surprisingly quick and after a long back and forth with friends, I came to the conclusion that this is what I need to do with my life.
So I applied and got accepted to Solent University in Southampton and began my journey into game development whilst also working part-time as a freelance creative consultant and a Broadcast Producer.

After graduating in 2024 with First Class honours, I moved back to the North-East of Scotland where I'm currently still freelancing as well as working on my own independent and creative projects.

Producer - MINECRAFT LIVE
2021/2022/2023/2024
Working directly with Mojang and Microsoft as a freelance contractor, I was responsible for producing the official community pre-show for Minecraft Live. Working with multiple teams to create a refreshed strategy each year, supporting PR teams in working with creators, writing scripts for hosts, briefing in assets such as graphics and music and then editing the whole pre-show together.
I also assisted with the main show by liaising between game teams and production companies to ensure the show flow and any assets from the teams were delivered in the appropriate format and fit brand guidelines. I also oversaw scripts from the hosts and updated the prompter team whenever changes were made.
For both elements I attended remote weekly meetings with key stakeholders, creative sessions, and was part of the final broadcast team both in Stockholm (Sweden) and Seattle (US).

Creative consultant - BLOCKCEPTION
SEP 2020 - JUL 2022
As I transitioned to my studies in Game Design, I reconnected with an old colleague from FyreUK who had formed a small studio creating content for Microsoft and the Minecraft Marketplace. I initially joined as a consultant to assist them with marketing, primarily their website rebrand and their YouTube channel content. I then quickly shifted into designing multiple projects, such as “The Mountain - Max Brooks”, “Minecraft x Ben 10 DLC”, “World Builder” and “Cute Pets”.

Moving away from events, I joined the Kingston marketing team to assist with product launches and influencer recruiting. Onboarding creators for both one off “product only” posts as well as sourcing dedicated brand ambassadors, posting content every quarter based on the latest hardware. I work closely with the creative, PR and wider business to provide launch assets as well as briefing in specific assets determined by each region’s requirements.

Event Content Producer/Talent Manager & Event Coordinator - MULTIPLAY/PLAYER1 EVENTS
MAY 2015 - SEP 2019
I was responsible for the onboarding of YouTube & Twitch guests to events, whilst overlooking and tracking marketing for each individual. Plus develop new and engaging stage content for them to take part in. My role became more focused on the production of these shows, creating detailed production ‘bibles’, organising digital assets, set theming and schedule. Looking after event features for Insomnia Gaming Festival & other 3rd party events. This role required me to work with feature partners to plan bespoke content, while liaising with the sales team to create sponsorship opportunities across the
show and the operations team for content delivery. As well as tracking KPIs and collating feedback data for review. On top of the below role, I am now also responsible for influencers at events which involves research of talent, pitching and negotiation, onboarding with contracts and promotion of talent as well as their promotion of the event. I create and present business cases, full budget breakdowns and presentations detailing relevance to event and company strategy.
